PM Oli Meets President Putin in Tianjin, Discusses Bilateral Ties
First-Ever Meeting Between the Two Leaders

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is in Tianjin, China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. This marks the first formal meeting between the two leaders.
Focus on Diplomatic and Future Cooperation
During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening diplomatic relations and exploring areas of future cooperation between Nepal and Russia. Prime Minister Oli highlighted the long-standing ties, noting that the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1956.
Call for High-Level Visits
Expressing concern over the lack of recent high-level visits from the Russian side, Oli said, “As far as I know, no Russian Prime Minister or high-level leader has visited Nepal recently. However, I visited Russia on behalf of Nepal in 1999 and 2000.”
